W Hotels DJ App – Exclusive DJ Center MixJune 1st, 2011
*note: track listing is available by clicking the fourth button from the top left on the player above I had a ball putting together this mix for the W Hotels DJ App that launched this week. The premise was to take some of my favorite tunes (new and old) and blend them into a continuous mix, creating a musical atmosphere for the listener in the comfort of their pocket hand held. You can instantly purchase any of the tunes from iTunes as you hear them and the App is free. My ‘Push the Fader – Worldwide‘ mix can be found in the ‘Living Room‘ section of the App, (screenshot below). You can also listen to the mixes online here. For more info on it check out the press release. Salute to Dego, Rich Medina, Vikter Duplaix and Mark de Clive-Lowe, among others, also featured on the player. Relax and listen.
DJ Center + DJ Spinna – In a Song Release Party DownloadMay 13th, 2011
* DJ Spinna + DJ Center Photo by Joe Villa for RULE4080.com Late last March, DJ Spinna and I got together in NYC to celebrate the vinyl release of “In a Song” from the “Everything in Time” album. Folks came out to boogie with us in the outrageous space that is Mono+Mono. Loft ceilings, vintage wood detail, photos of Jazz legends, analog equipment and a backdrop of 30,000 LPs provided the warm canvas for the music that night. As our way of saying thank you, you’ll find each of our DJ sets from that night, ready for download below. If you couldn’t make the jam that night, Daniel Littlewood and Charis Shafer captured some of the visuals in the video. Enjoy! DJ Center – Live at Mono+Mono, NYC (Download)

Feel What I’m Feelin’- Jazz (in the Color Purple) MixJanuary 20th, 2011
This is an oldie but a goodie- I cut this Jazz session back in 2005. It appeared as disc 2 on the double CD release, “Feel What I’m Feelin’“. Long out of print, this mix has traveled to places and spaces as far and wide as Tokyo, Japan and London, England. For weeks it ran in its entirety on ScannerFM, 100.5 in Barcelona and it has received praise from some of the great artists that it pays homage to- Gary Bartz and Junior Mance, respectively. For me, it was about the music- how much it spoke without saying a word. The blues roots, the spiritual jazz tributes and the clear connections to the modern day architects of sampling- it was all in there. It was a mix highlighting the genius and beauty of the artists and tunes you hear, yet weaving and blending them altogether as I would any of my DJ sets. To date, I’m not aware of any other mixes with the same approach or feel and for me, this project was both a blessing and labor or love. Hope it leaves you feelin’ as good as it left me when I put it together. Back in September of 2006, I toured Europe stopping in Barcelona, Spain to play the legendary Powder Room night at Sala Apolo (Big up Mr. Wakanda, D2D2 and crew). I arrived a couple days before my gig with some time to soak up the local flavor. On that visit, I met an incredible DJ from São Paulo, Brazil named DJ Paulão. We would co-headline the next night together at Sala Apolo, but that night he had a solo set at an underground club in the heart of the downtown. Hanging at his set the night before the gig and hearing him rock what seemed like all the Brazilians living in the city was nothing short of magical. That set was the perfect inspiration leading to the party rocking we would do together the next night at Sala Apolo. Here’s my set from Barcelona, immediately following my man Paulão. Enjoy.
